CRE Engagement & Place Seminar 1
Professor Mark Reed: Landscape Enterprise Networks: a place-based approach to paying for nature’s services.
Date: Wednesday 27th February 2019 – 17:30 to 19:00
Venue: Clement Stephenson Lecture Theater, Agriculture Building, Newcastle University
In this talk, Mark Reed will talk about his work to develop new ways of paying for nature conservation by leveraging funding from the private sector, to meet the scale of environmental challenges that the world currently faces. Drawing on pioneering work to develop the UK Peatland Code (financing the restoration via private investment alongside public funding), he will describe a place-based approach that harnesses the different values placed on the natural environment by those who live in and use the landscape.
Professor Mark Reed is a Professor of Socio-Technical Innovation and Director of Engagement & Impact in the School of Natural & Environmental Sciences, Newcastle University.
