Commission for Rural Communities
was established in April 2005 and became an independent body on 1 October 2006, following the enactment of the NERC Act. Their role is to provide well-informed, independent advice to government and ensure that policies reflect the real needs of people living and working in rural England, with a particular focus on tackling disadvantage.

Northumbria Larder
Northumbria Larder is the North East's prime source of Regional Fine Food and Drink. It consists of independent food and drink producers in County Durham, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear and Tees Valley.
Northumberland Uplands
The Northumberland Uplands New LEADER Local Development Strategy, Northumberland Upwards, aims to provide a focus for the sustainable development of the rural Northumberland Uplands. The Local Development Strategy will provide direction for the activities that will be undertaken.
